FOSTERING COLLABORATION TO IMPROVE
HEALTHCARE IN THE NORTHLAND
On July 1, 2024, the New Liberty Hospital District (NLHD) transferred Liberty Hospital operations to the University of Kansas Health System (UKHS). UKHS is now responsible for all hospital and clinic operations provided by Liberty Hospital and its clinics. NLHD is now responsible for ensuring that UKHS comply with its commitments made to NLHD under the agreement transferring Liberty Hospital operations to UKHS.
NLHD has been serving the healthcare needs of our community for over 50 years. From the community’s passion to establish local healthcare to where we are today, the Liberty Hospital story is one of strength and continuous growth – and an unwavering commitment to quality, accessible healthcare for everyone in the Liberty area.
The New Liberty Hospital District remains a political subdivision created under Chapter 206 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri. It is governed by a publicly elected Board of Trustees who serve six-year terms. As of January 1, 2025, NLHD set its tax levy rate to 0, thereby eliminating the annual property tax.
Our Mission
Work in partnership with our community to improve the health, safety and well-being of those we serve.
